Our History
The company has shifted its focus from third-party construction to real estate development and project management of its own construction sites. In 2014, it entered a new market in Romania, specifically in the city of Timișoara, where over 400 housing units have been built to date, along with the successful completion of numerous land enhancement and trading operations.
The company also maintains a presence in the French market, carrying out real estate management and development projects in Paris. In Italy, real estate development is primarily focused in the metropolitan area of Turin, with an expansion vision towards other Italian regions.

The company receives the “100 Years of Business” award from the National Association of Building Contractors. During this period, with the entry of the fifth generation, the company begins to focus more on real estate operations while continuing to carry out third-party projects, albeit with a significantly reduced commitment in this sector.

In the 1990s, the company, through subsidiary companies and local partners, carried out numerous large-scale real estate developments in Paris and Vancouver, alongside its third-party construction projects.

The company undertakes major civil engineering projects in Nigeria, in partnership with Impresit, including the construction of the four-lane highway from Kano to Kaduna and the Third Mainland Bridge, the most significant bridge in West Africa.
Located on the Lagos Lagoon, the bridge spans approximately 9,000 meters in total length with a 31-meter width. The standard span has a length of 45 meters, while the navigation span reaches 60 meters. The second phase of the project was completed in consortium with the German company Bilfinger Berger.

In Italy, the company expands and develops new construction projects, including the Olivetti offices in Ivrea, the Palazzo Tirrena, and residential districts for IACP in Turin.
Internationally, it strengthens its presence with the construction of part of the city of Tema in Ghana, where approximately 3,000 single and two-story residential buildings, 13 four-story buildings, garages, arcades, and parking lots were built. The project also included the construction of internal roads, potable water and sewage distribution networks, and power line installations for electricity distribution.
In Nigeria, the company continues its expansion in road infrastructure, building over 7,000 km of roads and bridges across the country.

In the early 1950s, the company, now fully owned by the Prono family, begins its international expansion under the leadership of Paolo’s sons, Vincenzo (1915-1984) and Giuseppe (1916-1992).
During this period, the company partners with Impresit, a subsidiary of the Fiat Group, to establish Borini Prono Nigeria and Borini Prono Ghana, marking the beginning of its significant presence in West Africa.

After completing major residential constructions in Turin, the company is officially established as a joint-stock company in 1934 under the name Borini & Prono. This restructuring strengthens its financial and operational capacity, enabling the successful execution of several significant projects.
Among the most notable works of this period are:
• The construction of part of the Fiat Mirafiori factories in Turin,
• The Richard Ginori factory in Sesto Fiorentino,
• Several blocks along the newly developed Via Roma in Turin, including the prestigious Grand Hotel Principi di Piemonte.

The company was founded by Vincenzo Prono and began its operations in the late 19th century, with its first public project for the Italian State Railways, for which the certificate of successful completion from 1897 is still preserved.
During the first two decades of the 20th century, the company undertook numerous residential construction projects for:
• The Institute for Public Housing (IACP) of Turin,
• The Finance Department,
• INCIS (National Institute for Public Housing for Civil Servants),
• Michelin S.A.
With the entry of Vincenzo’s son, Paolo, into the company, its activities expanded significantly. In 1923, Vincenzo Prono partnered with Domenico Borini, leading to the formation of Borini & Prono, marking a new phase of growth and industrial development.
